Unique trash item disposal and recycling

Hai guys.. today we get an unique information... check this out ^^

Electronics (TV's, stereos, computers, CRT monitors, LCD monitors, microwaves, video game consoles, cell phones, printers, etc.) It is a violation of Indiana State Code to dispose of ewaste in your normal trash, IC-13-20.5. Ewaste must be recycled properly. Contact Oscar Winski company or Midwest Ewaste for help with recycling your electronics.
Appliances and electronics will be taken during weekly trash pickup. If you can not wait until your weekly pickup, you may bring the items to our drop off site, located at 260 South 3rd Street, Lafayette, IN 47905. You may drop off items Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 2:00 pm. You must check in at the office before dropping items off. Please note, that anything containing freon, such as refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners, will not be picked up or accepted at the drop off site.
Dehumidifiers have freon that must be removed by a certified technician to prevent more holes in the ozone layer. Call the Wildcat Creek District at 423-2858 for a list of all vendors who will come and get a CFC appliance, take out the freon and recycle the metal for a hauling fee.
Freezers have freon that must be removed by a certified technician to prevent more holes in the ozone layer. Call the Wildcat Creek District at 423-2858 for a list of all vendors who will come and get a CFC appliance, take out the freon and recycle the metal for a hauling fee.
Grass Clippings should be left where they lay. Turfgrass experts at Purdue found grass clippings return nitrogen and build healthy soil in lawns. Grass clippings contain over 20 nutrients your lawn needs to fight disease and grow properly. Leaving clippings reduces the amount of fertilizer your lawn needs, saving time and money. If you choose to have your grass clippings removed, they must be bagged in compostable bags and set curbside!
Holiday Trees can be brought to drop off sites located in Shamrock, McCaw, Murdock, and Neil Armstrong parks, from the last week in December through January. In addition, during this time frame, we will pick them up curbside. Please remove tinsel, plastic bags, and tree stands.
Leaves must be bagged in compostable bags and set curbside to be picked up! However, leaves raked in the spring can be used as mulch in flower beds and gardens. If you don't mind sharpening your mower blade at the end of the year, you can run over leaves and mulch them right into the lawn.
Metal Cans must be rinsed clean and placed in your blue recycle bin, however, no spray or paint cans.
Mixed Paper such as magazines, cereal boxes, catalogs, unwanted mail, office paper, phone books, newspapers & school papers may be placed in your blue recycle bin.
Motor Oil can be recycled at Walmart Automotive, West Lafayette Street Department, and Autozone. After you change your oil, pour used oil into a sturdy container and take it to be recycled. Less than five gallons should be free of charge.
Oil Filters can be recycled at the West Lafayette Street Dept. at 705 S. River Rd. They are open 24 hours a day, all year long. Place them in a gray bin next to the oil collection container.

Glass Jars must be rinsed clean and placed in your blue recycle bin, however, no drinking glasses please.
Paint that can be cleaned with soap and water is latex. It can be dried out by pouring as much cheap clay kitty litter as there is paint in the can. It will dry out in 24 hours and can be set out for the regular trash with the lid off. This way the sanitation workers can see it is dry and they can pick it up. Sounds crazy, but it works. Call the Wildcat Creek District at 423-2858 with questions, or if you have oil based paint.
Refrigerators have freon that must be removed by a certified technician to prevent more holes in the ozone layer. Call the Wildcat Creek District at 423-2858 for a list of all vendors who will come and get a CFC appliance, take out the fron and recycle the metal for a hauling fee.
Scrap Metal such as an old fence, hot water heaters, ovens, washers, dryers, & metal lawn chairs can be recycled. Set it out in a separate pile at your property line on your normal trash collection day. It will be picked up separately from your toter & recyclables. Or you may take it, for free, to Oscar Winski Co. Call them at 742-1102 for details.
Tires must be cut into 1 inch pieces before they can be disposed of, according to State law, so places charge usually a $2 or more fee to dispose of them. Tires can be taken to these locations: Walmart Automotive, Pep Boys, Mr & Mrs Tire, Firestone Tire. (medi)
